Happy Friday, February 26th, 6-1 Families!

We’ve had another exciting weather week on 6-1! Hopefully we do not have any more weather-related events for Track 1 for the rest of the school year.

Next Friday, March 4th is our Track Out Day, as well as, our next Early Release Day.  Students will be dismissed at 11:45am.  Please make transportation plans accordingly.

3rd Quarter report cards will also be distributed in Homeroom for students to take home on Friday, March 4th.

CORE Updates

Math 6/6+ (Mr. Hayes) – Students will continue with angles of triangles next week.  An assignment on that concept is due Tuesday, March 1st.  No tests or quizzes scheduled for next week.

Science (Mr. Yang/Ms.Haynie) – Students will continue to investigate temperature and changes of states of matter next week.  Any grades given next week will go onto 4th Quarter.  We will finish up the Matter Unit when we track back in with one more 2-week sub-unit.  We will take the 3rd Quarter Benchmark on Matter after the last sub-unit.  We will finish up the year with learning about Energy and Space.

Social Studies (Mr. Miller) – We wrapped up our Ancient Africa last week. This week we will have our 3rd quarter benchmark covering Islam, the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Reformation, and Ancient Africa on Tuesday during class. This is not for a grade, but for instructional purposes for our Social Studies department. When we return for the 4th quarter, we will covering India, China, Japan, and Korea.

ELA (Ms. Chappell) – Next week, we will continue to analyze figurative language and poetic devices, as well as tone and mood. On Wednesday, students will take the Quarter 3 benchmark assessment. Over track out, please encourage your child to continue reading daily.
