Happy Friday, February 5th, 6-1 Families!
We had another great week on the 6-1 team! Just a reminder that we have our Field Trip to Marbles this Monday, February 8th. If your student did not order a bag lunch from ECMS, they should be expected to bring their own lunch on Monday. Please send lunches in disposable bags to make transportation of lunches easier.
Our 2nd Semester PBIS Dance is scheduled for Friday, February 19th. Students may purchase tickets during lunch the week of the dance. Tickets are $5 or 25 PBIS tickets.
Interims for all classes went out Thursday and Friday of this week. Please review these carefully with your student and discuss a plan for getting missing assignments turned in as soon as possible. Some students are still having a hard time understanding how much a grade of a “0” impacts their overall grade.
Math 6/6+ (Mr. Hayes) – Students will be wrapping up Unit 10 Coordinate Planes and Absolute Value next week. A TEST will be given on Thursday, Feb. 11th on Unit 10.
Science (Ms. Haynie) – Students continued to learn about the History of the Atom this past week. A QUIZ on these ideas is scheduled for Tuesday, February 9th. Students should study #11-#16 in their science binders. Quizzes are intermediate grades.
We are now beginning to learn about the Periodic Table and Element Properties. Students were introduced to their 3rd Quarter project – “Element Superheroes and Villains”. They had today to start their research and brainstorming during class. Students may use morning time, EE time, and working lunch but all other work must be done on their own. Projects are a major grade and will be due by Thursday, Feb. 18th. Each student will have to present their superhero or villain to the class.
Social Studies (Mr. Miller) – We wrapped up our mini-unit on The Renaissance on Friday. We will have an essay quiz on Tuesday over the Renaissance. On Thursday, all projects should be delivered to my classroom by 7:30am. On Friday, we will have a short quiz over the Reformation.
ELA (Ms. Chappell) – Next week, we will conclude our study of Flush. There will be a test on the novel on Friday, February 12; this will be a major grade. We will review in class and prepare study guides on Thursday.
