Happy Thursday, January 28th, 6-1 Families!

Please continue to check PowerSchools a couple of times a week. The grades are as up-to-date as possible. If you see a gold square, that indicates your student has a missing assignment. Interims for all classes will go out on Friday, Feb. 5th through your student’s homeroom teacher. If you have a question about a particular grade, please contact that teacher directly.
Math 6/6+ (Mr. Hayes) –Students will continue working through Unit 10 Coordinate Planes and Absolute Value. A quiz will be taken on Unit 10 on Wednesday, Feb. 3rd.

Students will soon begin discussing the Periodic Table of Elements. There will be a corresponding project for the Periodic Table with more details coming soon.
The 2nd Quarter Science benchmark will be given tomorrow, Saturday, January 30th for those students who are present. Students who have to miss Saturday school will make-up their benchmark during EE time on Monday, February 1st.
Lastly, please see the flyer below in regards to an opportunity for 6th and 7th grade students to apply to be a member of the Marbles STEM Play Corps. A group of students from across the county are selected each year to bring STEM outreach programs to younger children and the community through Marbles museum. 6-1 had one student selected last year for this amazing opportunity and has loved every minute of it. Consider applying! More details in the flyer below.
Social Studies (Mr. Miller) –We just wrapped up our focus on the Middle Ages, we will have a brief quiz covering what we worked on in class and from the first section of the guided notes (All the words before Renaissance). We will begin talking about the Renaissance on Monday. Just a reminder to look at your child’s project paper and see if they are keeping up with all of the to-do list. The project is due on the morning of February 11th to be graded in class.
