Happy Friday, January 15th, 6-1 Families!

We had a really busy and exciting week on 6-1! Thank you to everyone who was able to make it out Wednesday night for the Science Fair and this morning for the Mid-Year Celebration Ceremony.  We are looking forward to jumping right back into things after the 3-day weekend.  Monday, January 18th is a holiday therefore no school will be in session.  We will see everyone bright and early on Tuesday!

CORE Updates

Math 6/6+ (Mr. Hayes) – Students will be taking their Unit 9 Test on Thursday, January 21st on Percent and Measurement.

Science (Ms. Haynie) –  We continued our short unit on reviewing Ecosystems.  We will finish up this review on Wednesday, January 20th.  We will be taking our 2nd Quarter Science benchmark on Friday, January 22nd.  This will cover Flowering Plants, Plant Processes and Ecosystems.  Benchmarks are formative and do NOT get factored into the student’s grade.

Social Studies (Mr. Miller) – We wrapped up our unit on Islam last week and we are now headed into the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Reformation. Details will be coming about our major project on Tuesday! Please remember students will have homework every week this quarter, which is always due on Friday by 7:30am.

ELA (Ms. Chappell) – Next week we will continue our novel study of Flush. Students should continue to follow the reading schedule on the ELA website.  Starting Tuesday, students identified as AIG in ELA will spend 4 weeks with Mrs. Cornejo, AIG Teacher during ELA class time.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or feedback.
