Happy Friday, November 13th, 6-1 Families!
It’s hard to believe how fast 2nd quarter is going! The end of the quarter will be here before we know it. Please encourage your students to turn in any missing 2nd quarter work by Monday, November 30th. If work is not turned in by this day, it will remain a ZERO. Please check PowerSchools with your student to see if any work is missing. The missing work symbol in PowerSchools is an orange square.
As Thanksgiving Break approaches, please let teachers know if your student will be absent for either Monday, November 23rd and/or Tuesday, November 24th. Students are responsible for any missed work on those days.
Also, ECMS is in need of Science Fair judges for both 6th grade Science Fairs. Please see the attached information if you are able to volunteer for one or both.
Math 6/6+ (Mr. Hayes) – Students are continuing their Unit 7 learning on Equations and Inequalities. A Unit 7 Quiz will take place Tuesday, November 17th and a Unit 7 Test Tuesday, November 24th.
Science (Ms. Haynie) – Our PBL on bees will start on Monday as an extension to our Plant Unit. This PBL will be a MAJOR grade for the 2nd quarter.
Students should be working on the experimental part of their Science Fair project. Once again, students are welcome to ask me for feedback/corrections on any part of their packet at any time. The final grade will once again be based on their final project board that is due Wednesday, Dec. 2nd. All information can be found on Ms. Haynie’s Teacher Website: http://mshayniescience.weebly.com . Students will not have any other scheduled time to work on these projects in class. They can use homeroom time and working lunch as in-school time if needed. All other work will need to be completed at home.
**Please let Ms. Haynie know if you need assistance in obtaining a tri-fold board.
Social Studies (Mr. Miller) –On Monday, we will be turning in our Rome History Bingo Project during class. We will be taking our 2nd Quarter Benchmark during the final week of the 2nd quarter. We will be reviewing December 1st, and taking the test on December 2nd. The benchmark is only for instructional purposes and will not be a grade for students in Social Studies.
ELA (Ms. Chappell) – Next week, we will conclude our Building Active Readers Unit and begin working on identifying central ideas and supporting details in informational text.
Our next team update will come on Tuesday, November 24th. This will be our trackout week update. Trackout day is Friday, December 4th.
As always, please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or feedback.
