Happy Friday, October 16th, 6-1 Families!

We had another great week on 6-1! We have a lot of exciting events coming up in the next few weeks.  The first PBIS dance is next Friday, October 23rd from 2:30-4:15pm.  Students may pay for the dance in two ways: 1) 25 PBIS tickets or 2) $5.  Students can get tickets at lunch next week.  The week of Oct. 26-30th is our School Spirit Week.  Students do not have to participate but we highly encourage them show their IMP pride.  The Spirit Week Schedule is as follows:

Monday, Oct. 26 – RED ribbon day. Go crazy decking yourselves out in red and ribbons from head to toe.
Tuesday, Oct. 27 – Your FUTURE is too bright to do drugs– Wear your favorite college gear.
Wednesday, Oct. 28 – On Wednesdays We Wear PINK– Breast Cancer awareness day, wear pink head to toe.
Thursday, Oct. 29 — GREEN Out. Show your Imp Spirit by wearing as much green and ECMS gear as possible. ** THIS IS PEP RALLY DAY **
Friday, Oct. 30 – WACKY TACKY day. Let’s end the week with an all-out crazy outfit, where nothing matches at all. The tackier, the better.

CORE Updates

Math 6/6+ (Mr. Hayes) –  Students will start Unit 6 – Properties and Algebraic Expressions next week.  NO Quizzes or tests planned for next week.

Science (Ms. Haynie) – This week, students have been learning about Flowering Plants.  We will take a break from plants next week and spend our week in the Computer Lab learning how to research for Science Fair projects.  We will focus on Part C (Research) of the Science Fair packet.  This will be the last part that we will work on together in class.  All other parts will be done outside of school time.  Students are welcome to ask me for feedback/corrections on any part of their packet at any time. The final grade will once again be based on their final project board that is due Wednesday, Dec. 2nd. All information can be found on Ms. Haynie’s Teacher Website: http://mshayniescience.weebly.com

Social Studies (Mr. Miller) & ELA (Ms. Chappell) – Our interdisciplinary Ancient Greece PBL is off to a great start! Next week, both classes will meet in the media center to continue working on these projects. Business plan drafts are due at the end of class on Monday (10/19). Business plans and advertisements should be completed by Wednesday evening so that students can make final revisions on Thursday. Presentations will take place on Friday (10/23).

As always, please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or feedback.

Have a great weekend!
